About the Corporate Leadership Council

The Corporate Leadership Council (CLC) is an ambassadorial society of corporate leaders who help promote engagement and offer feedback supporting the Trust for the National Mall’s mission. The group convenes several times a year to receive updates from the Trust and National Park Service and network with peers.

If you would like to make a gift by transferring stock or other securities, please instruct your broker to transfer shares to the Trust for the National Mall. Please contact us at gifts@nationalmall.org to notify us of your gift. Please include the donor name, phone number, name of stock and number of shares. Planned Giving

Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to show your support and appreciation for The Trust for the National Mall and its mission while accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. With smart planning, you may actually increase the size of your estate and/or reduce the tax burden on your heirs. Just as important, you will know that you have made a meaningful contribution to preserve the historic legacy of the National Mall.

Choosing the right planned gift depends on your personal circumstances and financial goals:

Bequests and Estate Plan Gifts

You may make a bequest or gift through your estate by including a provision in your will or living trust, or by naming the Trust for the National Mall as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. The amount left to the Trust (or any charity) can be expressed as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the assets to be given.

Gifts From Retirement Plan

Help protect both the National Mall and your heirs by making the Trust for the National Mall a full or partial beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or other qualified retirement plan. You may be surprised to find that the taxes applied to your retirement plan assets are different than you imagined—in fact, using retirement assets to make your donation and leaving other assets to your heirs often enables you to give more to your heirs.

Life Insurance Policy Gifts

You can name the Trust for the National Mall as primary beneficiary of your life insurance policy or as contingent beneficiary.

Donor Advised Funds

If you support multiple organizations or you want to secure a charitable deduction now but designate beneficiaries later, a donor advised fund (DAF) may work for you. They can be established with a number of entities, including community foundations, financial services companies and charities.

Workplace giving is a simple and effective way for employees to support the Trust for the National Mall. Your donation allows us to support the National Park Service in improving the National Mall and preserving one of the great symbols of American ideals.

Corporate Giving Campaigns

Support the Trust for the National Mall through your company’s annual corporate giving campaign. It is a convenient way to give your contribution through regular payroll deductions.

Combined Federal Campaign

Federal employees can support the Trust for the National Mall by taking advantage of tax-deductible donations made through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) philanthropy program that their workplace may offer. These gifts can be made as one-time donations or payroll deductions.

 To support the Trust through CFC, simply enter our CFC #42915 on your pledge card during the next fund drive.

United Way

Does your workplace participate in a United Way campaign? Then you can designate your pledge to the Trust for the National Mall through United Way’s Donor Choice Program. Matching Gifts

Many companies have matching gift programs that will double or even triple charitable contributions made by their employees. Hands-on opportunities on the National Mall

Each year the National Mall hosts over 36 million visitors and 3,000 permitted events, making it the most visited national park in the country. With this level of use, our volunteers play a vital role in helping the National Park Service maintain the grounds of the National Mall. As an official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, the Trust for the National Mall organizes a variety of ever-evolving volunteer opportunities with NPS as part of our commitment to building a sense of stewardship for this iconic park. In 2015 alone, 5,580 volunteers participated in service projects on the National Mall for a total of 17,983 hours, saving NPS an estimated $697,201 in labor costs. Become a Volunteer

As part of the commitment, we are piloting a volunteer program at specific sites on the National Mall. This is an excellent opportunity for those fascinated by history, who love meeting new people, who enjoy spending time outdoors and who, on occasion, want to get their hands dirty.

Days of Service

Each Day of Service volunteer event lasts three hours, where corporate and nonprofit volunteer groups assist NPS staff weed, paint, plant, and pick up trash throughout the National Mall. Event tasks and locations are assigned two weeks prior to the event, and are based on the needs of the Park Service staff, time of year, and size of group. Events can accommodate groups of 12 to 200. Volunteers have consisted of corporate teams, school classes, and local professional athletes.

Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program

The VIP Program on the National Mall provides an avenue for volunteers to assist the National Park Service on a continual basis. The program is varied in its scope and includes staffing visitor information kiosks, conducting public tours, and assisting with general park maintenance. The National Park Service welcomes anyone who wants to volunteer by completing a Volunteer Application, followed by an interview with the Park Service Volunteer Programs Staff. The Trust for the National Mall supports the National Mall VIP Program by providing training and educational resources to volunteers.

Special Events

The National Park Service and the Trust for the National Mall partner to host a variety of unique events for public engagement and education. These events vary seasonally and yearly, but always require the collective efforts of volunteers. Diverse events that have occurred on the National Mall include, the Facescape Art Installation, Landmark Music Festival, and National Park Service Centennial Celebration.
