Preserving the story of the National Mall.

Remembering the March

Stories from a defining moment in American history. To commemorate the historic 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, the Trust for the National Mall hosted StoryCorps, to capture both personal and moving stories from individuals who attended the March in 1963, in addition to those who were dramatically affected by the March and the broader civil rights movement.

Martin Luther King, III: The civil rights hero's namesake discusses his father's enduring legacy with his daughter, MLK Jr.'s only grandchild.

Edith Lee Payne: As a little girl, a photo of her attending the March became an iconic image. Listen as she describes the historic occasion with her granddaughters.
