Typhoon Muifa’s landfall on China’s east coast on Wednesday caused air, sea and land transport disruptions and the evacuation of nearly 720,000 people, local media reported today.

The typhoon – which materialized as a tropical storm last Thursday more than a thousand kilometers southeast of Japan’s Okinawa prefecture – is expected to make landfall Wednesday local noon in eastern Zhejiang province, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rains.
