The Carlos III Health Institute estimates that, so far this year, there have been 30,861 more deaths than expected for this period, of which 3,833 are attributable to the high temperatures recorded during the months of July and August, almost triple the previous year, when in those two months 1,356 people died from the heat.

According to the Daily Mortality Monitoring System (MoMo), of the 5,783 deaths so far this year attributable to temperature, the highest peak occurred in July with 2,223 deaths, followed by August, the month in which 1,610 people died.
