Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, former world number one, winner of 20 Grand Slam titles and considered one of the best players in history, announced Thursday his retirement which will take effect at the end of the Laver Cup, a team tournament which he himself promotes and which will be held in London from the 23rd to the 25th of this month.

Federer is 41 and will say goodbye after “a wonderful adventure” of 24, but after the last three seasons which have been “difficult in the form of injuries and operations”.
