Four former justice ministers have urged the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to renew the Constitutional Court by appointing two magistrates because members “must abide by the laws” and the Constitution.

Francisco Caamaño, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, Rafael Catalá and Juan Carlos Campo agreed on the need for the judges’ governing body to appoint the two TC magistrates, the day before the opening of negotiations for the conservative and progressive blocs with the first meeting to release the nominations, four days after the expiry of the legal deadline.
