The announcement by the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, that he will run for immediate re-election in the 2024 elections was met on Friday with accusations of illegality and the support of the Vice-President, Félix Ulloa, who, in a draft constitution reform proposed to ban it.

The possibility of Bukele being re-elected for a second consecutive term in 2024 opened up last September, when a constitutional chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice questioned changed a criterion in the matter.
