The livestock sector and the cheese industry of La Palma suffered, not without difficulties, the eruption of a volcano which took away four farms and forced the evacuation of more than 1,500 heads of goats, but it is the rise in grain prices, due to the war, which threatens the future of farms.

Julio C├ęsar Leal, owner of Tajogaite cheeses, caused a fissure eruption to appear on September 19, 2021 600 meters from his farm and cheese factory, which forced him to abandon his more than 100,000 square meters of pasture and his machinery of production, to start again in the island cheese factory, offered by the Cabildo de La Palma.
