Kabul, September 19 (EFE) .- The Taliban announced on Monday the release of what is considered the last prisoner of the United States in the hands of the Islamist group in Afghanistan, Mark Frerichs. This was done in a prisoner exchange in which Haji Bashir Noorzai, an important fundamentalist ally, was released.

Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi announced at a press conference in Kabul the exchange between Frerichs, who had been held hostage for more than two years, and Noorzai, who had spent seventeen years in an American prison.
