Roa (Burgos), Sep 20 (EFE).- The national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, asked this Tuesday “not to engage in demagoguery” with fiscal policy and to respect the autonomy and powers that the regional governments, at the same time who recalled that in the case of the wealth tax it was the PSOE which, when Zapatero governed, eliminated it at state level to recover it later with the crisis.
During his visit to some vineyards in the municipality of Burgos in Roa de Duero, when asked about the announcement made yesterday by the Andalusian President, Juan Manuel Moreno, on the abolition of the wealth tax, Feijóo defended that this what his party colleague is doing is to “comply with their electoral platform” and exercise their autonomy.
When asked if this decision would be followed in the rest of the autonomies governed by the PP, Feijóo refused to influence the decision that other leaders like Alfonso Fernández Mañueco in Castile and León might take: “The only who can speak is the chairman of the board of directors”, he summed up to avoid commenting on the question.
In his case, he recalled that as president of the Xunta de Galicia he had undertaken to eliminate him at the end of this legislature, but he recalled that in his community of origin a minimum exemption from 800,000 euros is already applied, which implies that currently Tribute is paid only by citizens who have assets greater than this amount, which in Castile and León is 700,000 euros.
Feijóo considered that among the tax announcements made yesterday by the Andalusian president, that relating to wealth tax is “important”, but that relating to personal income tax is “very important”, because it assumes three times the economic resources and affects “middle and moderate incomes.
Asked about certain statements made to Onda Cero by the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, a personal supporter of the centralization of taxes like Patrimony, the leader of the PP lamented that these positions collide to what is defended by the partners of the PSOE in the government.
“The president of the government is for the pro-independence parties who want fiscal concerts and are against harmonization”, summed up Feijóo, who said that the PSOE “should clarify” on this subject.
The previous Zapatero
He remembered it was José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero who decided in 2008 to eliminate the wealth tax at the state levelalthough he replaced him again “because the crisis came”, without Mariano Rajoy or Pedro Sánchez subsequently modifying said tribute.
Feijóo insisted during his appearance before the media that the government must simplify taxation related to energy consumption and extend the reductions approved until December 31 to all winter.
“Copy, copy well”, he asked the government about the proposals made by the PP, in favor of “returning” to society what it has paid “in addition” in recent months because of the inflation.
In this line, he called on the executive to reduce energy consumption, the purchase of animal feed, fertilizers and plastics for the agri-food sector, for which he asked to improve the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE), currently endowed with 1,000 millionwhich he considers rare for a sector of importance like this.EFE
