Madrid, Sep 20 (EFE).- Rogelio López-Cuenca (Nerja, Málaga, 1959) has won the 2022 National Plastic Arts Prize, endowed with 30,000 euros, for his “essential contribution to the weaving of the critical history of Spanish art from the 1980s to the present day”, the Ministry of Culture and Sports reported on Tuesday.

The jury’s decision emphasizes that López Cuenca’s work “is based on a commitment to historical time and the territory in which he lived, the transformations and continuities of Spanish society at the turn of the century, the violence and upheavals that lead to globalization”.
