Washington, September 21 (EFE) .- The Catalan President, Pere Aragonès, described this Wednesday as “economic Catalanophobia” the call of the Andalusian President, Juanma Moreno, to attract Catalan companies, for which he demanded the PP to Alberto Núñez Feijóo who “removes your hands from Catalonia”.

“What I demand from Mr. Feijóo’s PP is to take his hands off Catalonia, to leave the citizens of Catalonia alone. If you want votes to be president of the Spanish government, let it be, but leave Catalonia alone,” he said in statements to the press during his visit to Washington.

Aragonès considered that Moreno’s proposal was part of “a PP offensive” aimed at “using the Catalan question again to be in Moncloa within a year”.

He criticized the fact “that he is trying to attack Catalan companies and jobs in Catalonia”, as “he has always done” with the Catalan language.

“They want to remove workplaces from Catalonia to take them to other places in the state. It’s economic catalanophobia,” reproached Aragonès, who also used the term “fiscal catalanophobia”.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the PP “has absolutely marginal support” in Catalonia, which he says is “respectable” but shows how little support there is for his policy.

In this sense, he pointed out that “lowering taxes on the rich has consequences for the most vulnerable people”, and recalled that Catalonia has maintained covid reinforcements for health personnel, unlike Andalusia.

He said the government can pay for these reinforcements through inheritance tax, to which the richest 1% in Catalonia contribute and “that’s how it will continue to be”, he promised. .

Regarding the September 27-30 general policy debate in Parliament, Aragonès explained that he will present “a broad proposal for self-determination” based on a referendum.

He said he was “convinced that allowing citizens to vote is the best way to resolve the political conflict with the Spanish state”.

Ja said a referendum should be supported by separatists and any Democrat because it is the “most inclusive and democratic proposal”. EFE
