Madrid, Sep 22 (EFE) .- The rain, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, puts five communities in the east and southwest of the peninsula on yellow alert this Thursday and the Balearic Islands on an orange level (significant risk ), where heavy precipitation is expected until mid-afternoon.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) on its website, in the Balearic Islands significant rains are expected, which in the islands of Ibiza and Formentera could accumulate up to 50 liters per square meter in an hour and up to 25 liters in Mallorca, in any case also with risk of storm.
In Andalusia there is a yellow alert (risk) due to storms in the province of Granada and inside the province of Almería and thunderstorm phenomena are also expected in parts of the region of Murcia.
Aragon, Catalonia and the Valencian Community, for their part, have activated the yellow alert throughout the day due to precipitation of between 30 and 40 liters per square meter which should be collected in the coastal areas of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón or the 20 liters per square meter that are advertised on the south coast of Tarragona and in points in the province of Teruel.
In all these cases, moreover, it is possible that the precipitation is accompanied by a thunderstorm with hail.
The Aemet warns that with the alert Orange there is a significant weather hazard, with some degree of hazard for usual activities, and with yellow there is no weather hazard for the general population, although there is some for some specific activities.
