Cadiz (EFE).- The city of Cadiz prepares to receive more than 40,000 spectators this weekend to enjoy the spectacle of the SailGP World Circuit. F50 catamaran competition, considered the “Formula 1” of the sea, which takes place in its waters.
A thousand members of the Civil Guard and the National Police, and other security forces, will be deployed in the city to provide security for this event, which is taking place in the waters of the city for the second time.
It should exceed 40,000 spectators
Last year, it attracted some 40,000 spectators, according to figures provided by the organization. However, they should be matched or exceeded this time around.
The Town Hall has deployed a program of more than 70 sports, cultural and leisure activities to support the competition of these boats. These touch the 100 kilometers per hour only propelled by the wind.
Between them, carnival shows in the Genovés Park Pavilion, Mentidero Square and Carlos III Promenade. Also flamenco in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios and concerts and DJs in the Plaza de San Antonio. It is completed with batucadas in different streets of the historic center.
An impact of 20 million euros
A commitment to give brilliance to a sporting event which last year generated an economic impact of around 20 million euros in the city and its surroundings.
An impact to which is added the fact of becoming the “great showcase” of water sports. A competition which, during its previous visit to the capital of Cadiz, was followed in more than 140 countries by 250 million viewers. ECE
