Buenos Aires (EFE) .- The Union of Kiosqueros of the Argentine Republic (UKRA) has asked the government to solve the “chaos” generated by the absence of the Qatar 2022 World Cup cards and by the damages that, according to the entity, implies that can be bought in supermarkets.

“We are 150,000 kiosks across the country that we expect, every four years, this strawberry on the dessert. During the year we sell them the figurines (cards) that nobody knows. From the UKRA we asked the Secretary of Commerce to call a meeting and summon the company to find a channel for dialogue before the complaints and all these steps. They did it and we appreciate it,” UKRA vice-president Adrián Palacios told El Destape radio on Thursday.

The meeting was held this Wednesday and brought together representatives of newsstands, the Panini company and the Secretary of Commerce.

“At the meeting, the company said they had the paper and the ink to print, that was not the problem. The theme is in the 60 distributors who sit on the figurines and decide to who deliver the miniatures.

Adrián Palacios, vice-president of the UKRA.

For Palacios, the “problem” is that “for the first time in thirty years” cards can be purchased in supermarkets, gas stations and virtual applications.

“They are three members of concentrated groups. This generated chaos, not only shortages, but also economic chaos, the rise in prices of figurines in parallel markets,” he said.

Chaos due to lack of cards

In Argentina, it has become utopian to buy official Qatar 2022 sticker packs from newsstands and this has led to them being offered on the internet at a higher price than stipulated.

“Today the price gap is out of control,” said Palacios, who said that during the meeting, the UKRA had offered the company to make available the soft drink and food dispensers with which they usually work to make sure the cards get to the kiosks.

“We request that our proposal be registered with the Secretariat and we await the response,” he concluded.
